How to Receive CME/CE Credit
Up to 40 CME/CE credits will be offered for this online symposium.
APsA is happy to offer continuing education (CME/CE) credits to Physicians, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Counselors for attending the APsA Summer Symposium.
Directly following the event, you will receive an email with your username and password and a link to the Evaluation’s Portal. Once you have logged in and completed the online evaluation, you will be able to print or email your CME/CE Certificate.
The deadline for completing the CME/CE Evaluation is Friday, March 5, 2027.

Statement of Objectives
This 2-hour symposium is designed for psychoanalysts, psychoanalytic psychotherapists, candidates and trainees, and interdisciplinary scholars of psychoanalysis to examine the declining engagement with psychoanalysis in the field, including financial barriers, clinician burnout, training experiences, the changing and/or unclear mission of psychoanalytic education, and generational differences in culture. Panelists from different profession types, career stages, and theoretical orientations will discuss how institutional participation supports clinical development, professional identity, and community, as well as the factors that discourage involvement. Attention will be given to issues of diversity, belonging, clinician burnout, and the relevance of institutional life to current practice. The seminar will aim to identify practical approaches to strengthen participation and improve psychoanalysis relevance in patient outcomes.
After attending this activity, attendees will be able to:
- Identify factors that influence engagement and disengagement in psychoanalysis and their impact on clinical development and professional functioning.
- Apply at least two strategies to enhance participation in psychoanalytic education in ways that support clinical practice and professional development.
- List least two strategies to reduce isolation and burnout.

Nurse Practitioners, PAs, and Other Profession Types NP’s, PA’s, and other profession types will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the activity and online evaluation confirming their participation. Participants may claim credit for recertification; however, their professional organization/institute hold the final say on which accredited activities they accept.
