APsA Institutes & Societies

Institutes, Societies, and Joint Provider CME Program

APsA’s approved training institutes and new training facilities maintain the highest quality psychoanalytic education as outlined in APsA’s Standards and Principles for Psychoanalytic Education. Approved training institutes maintain and implement the applicable educational, administrative, and professional standards of the Association for the teaching of psychoanalysis and the training of psychoanalysts.

Educational Offerings

Clinical psychoanalytic training programs in Adult Psychoanalysis and Child and/or Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis reflect the educational requirements, clinical training, and clinical experience necessary for an individual to become a competent psychoanalyst. In addition, many APsA institutes and centers offer clinical training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, as well as Academic and Research training programs.

APsA’s affiliate societies provide ongoing educational opportunities for their members and community events, including lectures, films, and exhibitions.

Joint Provider CME Program

The American Psychoanalytic Association has been awarded four-year accreditation as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®). APsA delivers education that is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence.

Through the APsA Joint Provider CME Program, APsA has jointly sponsored CME activities with over 38 affiliated institutes, societies, and centers. Joint providership currently covers CME for physicians and continues to evolve.

To submit an activity for CME credit, please familiarize yourself with the ACCME Core Criteria Guidelines and the ACCME Standards for Integrity & Independence in Accredited Continuing Education (ACE). Each submitted activity undergoes official review and approval by the APsA CE Committee, along with mandatory post-reporting requirements and payment of the joint provider fee.
