Book Prize of the American Psychoanalytic Association

The Book Prize of the American Psychoanalytic Association (formerly the Courage to Dream Book Prize) recognizes a book published in English with a copyright of 2025 or 2026 that best promotes the engagement of psychoanalysis with academic disciplines from the humanities and social sciences (see eligibility).

The prize is $500.

Eligibility

For a book published in English with a copyright of 2025 or 2026 that best promotes the engagement of psychoanalysis with academic disciplines from the humanities and social sciences, such as history, literature, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, political science, and the arts.
The intended audience for nominated books should be broadly inclusive of readers beyond clinical psychoanalysis.

Submissions should include 3 copies of the book which must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. ET on September 30th.
