The Basics of Psychoanalytic Group Psychotherapy

November 7 @ 10:00am EST

This introductory course provides an overview of the fundamental principles and practices of psychoanalytic group psychotherapy, integrating contemporary group analytic perspectives. Participants will explore how unconscious processes, transference and countertransference, resistance, interpersonal feedback, and emotional immediacy emerge within the dynamic interpersonal field of the group. The course will emphasize the here and now experience of the group as a way of understanding relational patterns and promoting psychological change. We will also discuss practical considerations in starting a psychotherapy group, including group composition, member selection, and establishing the therapeutic frame.

Presented by Dr. Cheryl Farole-Roman, Psy.D., MFT, CGP
