New York, NY - November 25, 2020 - The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) denounces the recent decision in the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which voided local Florida laws designed to protect minors from the dangerous and fraudulent practice of conversion therapy.

April 20, 2016 – The nation’s leading mental health professional organizations are expressing dismay over the spate of recent bills and laws that would allow for individuals and businesses to deny services, employment and housing to LGBT people under the guise of religious freedom.

The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) congratulates Illinois in becoming the 5th jurisdiction to ban conversion therapy for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth – joining California, New Jersey, Oregon and Washington D.C. Minors in the state of Illinois will now be protected from the long-discredited practice of conversion or “reparative” therapy.
