Dr. Sidney H. Phillips, graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in 1975 from Baylor College of Medicine. He has been on faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale since 1979. Serving as Associate Clinical Professor since 1994.
In 1989 Dr. Phillips earned his Certification in Adult Psychoanalysis from the American Psychoanalytic Association. That year he was also recognized as a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
Over the course of his career he has written numerous articles and in 1999 was awarded the Ralph E. Roughton M.D. Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Psychoanalytic Literature on Homosexuality from the American Psychoanalytic Association for “A New Analytic Dyad: Homosexual Analyst, Heterosexual Patient,” Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association 46(4): 1998, pp. 1195-1219.
Dr. Phillips served as the President of the Western New England Psychoanalytic Society, New Haven, CT from 1995-1997. He maintains an active role in his local institute serving since 2001 as a Training and Supervising Analyst for Candidates.
In 1993 and 2004 Dr. Phillips was recognized as an Outstanding Clinical Faculty Member, Department of Psychiatry, Yale School of Medicine. In 2008 he was made a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
