SUMMARY:Family Matters\, Lived Experiences
DESCRIPTION:A parent\, sibling\, psychoanalyst\, and trans man share their stories from the frontlines \n  \nGiven the rise of political attacks on LGBTQIA+ (especially trans) persons and communities and the distress that our current political climate is creating for families wrestling with the impact of these attacks\, the Committee on Gender and Sexuality (CoGS) of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsA) wants to offer education\, advocacy and support to parents and family members of LGBTQIA+ individuals\, as well as to clinicians working with them. \n  \nThis panel is an opportunity to hear directly from family members\, a psychoanalyst working with trans kids and families\, and a trans man about what it is like on the frontlines of one of the most destructive culture wars of our time. Panelists will discuss lived experiences related to navigating sudden loss of healthcare and rights within a social environment that has become virulently phobic toward gender diversity. Whether you’re a clinician who wants to learn more about working with LGBTQIA+ children and their parents/family members or are yourself a parent/family member facing these issues\, we invite you to join us. \n  \nAll are welcome. \n  \nWhen: Saturday\, 3/14/26 at 1:00-2:45pm ET(10-11:45am PT)  \n  \nREGISTER HERE: https://forms.gle/JSQQhVNtCxM6aiXS7
