Dr. Karim Dajani is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst who is on the faculty at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis.  Experiences related to immigration and cultural dislocation have deepened Dr. Dajani’s interest in understanding the link between cultural systems and individual subjectivity. He is focused on the expansion of psychoanalytic theory to include a genuine consideration of socio-cultural context(s) and determinants that shape individual subjectivity as well as large-group identifications and behavior.  Recent publications include: The Culturing of Psychoanalysis; Cultural Dislocation and Ego Functions; The Ego’s Habitus; and Cultural Determinants in Winnicott’s Theories.
