First Time Attendees

IS THIS YOUR FIRST TIME?

The American Psychoanalytic Association is pleased to welcome you to your first APsaA meeting. We hope it will be the first of many to come. By choosing to attend an APsaA meeting you are making a significant investment in expanding and developing your professional knowledge and skills. And you are going to meet a terrific group of people as well.

Attending an APsaA’s Meeting for the first time can feel overwhelming but we’ve got you covered:

Before the meeting:

• Schedule an appointment with a Program Committee member who will review the program with you and offer suggestions regarding what sessions might be most beneficial and enjoyable to you based on your interests. To arrange this, email Carolyn Gatto with a brief bio detailing your professional background and interests. A Program Committee member will reach out to you via email.

 At the meeting:

• Grab a sandwich between sessions on Friday, February 12th from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and join the Welcome Committee for lunch. Make sure to register for the Lunch Break: Welcome Committee Meets with First Timers when you register for the meeting.   This is a great opportunity to meet APsaA staff, the Executive Committee and other first time attendees!

• Join us for our two Social Functions on Friday, February 12th and Saturday, February 13th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Eastern which will provide plenty of interaction with other attendees.  On Friday night, we will have Freud Trivia night where we will randomly put together teams of 6-8 people to answer psychoanalytic trivia questions.  On Saturday night, there will be a “cocktail party” followed by a special Jazz performance by Michael Weiss.

Contact Carolyn Gatto, Scientific Program and Meetings Director to ask any questions you might have.
