Columbia Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research Seeking Director

The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) would like to share the following opportunity:

Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons Department of Psychiatry is seeking to appoint a highly qualified psychoanalyst to the position of Director of the Columbia Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. The Director of the Center oversees all 10 educational programs (psychoanalytic, psychotherapy, child, adult, transference focused psychotherapy, parent infant program etc.) of the Center, handles Center budgeting, faculty, students, curriculum and interfaces with the Department of Psychiatry and the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The Director’s mission is to preserve and advance psychodynamic treatments at one of the US’s most storied psychoanalytic institutes and to ensure education, research and clinical practice are maintained at a high level of excellence and that the Center thrives. The successful candidate will receive approximately half-time support to oversee the Center.

Minimum Requirements: Training in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology and in Psychoanalysis and demonstrated accomplishments as an administrator and educator and scholar with leadership experience. Must possess or be eligible for a license in the state of New York.

Salary and Benefits: $150,000 for an approximately 50% FTE.  The successful candidate has an option to be appointed to the full-time faculty of Columbia University which includes participation in the Faculty Practice organization and benefits including medical, vision, dental, tuition reimbursement for family after waiting period as well as retirement contributions.
