Committee Type: Department of Psychoanalytic Education
Description: The mission of The Interdisciplinary Psychoanalytic Education Section of the Department of Psychoanalytic Education is producing a searchable archive of interdisciplinary materials to provide students in psychoanalytic institutes and centers with vivid examples of psychoanalytic concepts and techniques, personality structures, psychopathologies, developmental milestones, transference interactions, and so on, drawn from different disciplines in the arts, humanities, and sciences. The archive includes various media such as cinema, literature, television and video, art, and other cultural materials as well as commentaries on the items to help guide classroom instruction. We are dedicated to including materials that exemplify diverse approaches, theories, and cultural investments, and our members, who represent a range of backgrounds, experience, and specialties, are committed to exploring ways to enliven psychoanalytic education. Consultants help us enrich our offerings with research on sociocultural issues – race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, inequality, religion, physical ability – from a psychoanalytic perspective.
