Committee Type: Membership Services and Programs Department
Description:
The CE Committee’s Mission is to ensure that all direct and joint provided accredited continuing education activities are in full compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Standards for Integrity & Independence in Accredited Continuing Education (ACE), as well as to oversee the development and ongoing improvement of APsA's education portfolio while meeting the requirements established.
The APsA CE Committee is dedicated to contributing clinical expertise and strategic direction on the review and approval of direct and joint provided CME applications and materials for awarding AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits (Physicians), APA Credit (Psychologists), and NASW Credit (Social Workers). The committee is charged with ensuring identification of potential relevant financial relationships and managing these conflicts for the program planning committee, joint provided activity planning committees, and activity faculty (anyone in a position to control the content of an educational activity) in order to produce balanced, and scientifically based accredited continuing education that is free of commercial interest (as defined by the ACCME).
In addition, the CE Committee is dedicated to surveying past participants to assess their educational needs. The committee works together with planners to vet presenters, to review their references and to refine their learning objectives. Finally, the committee surveys participants to learn the effectiveness of our educational programming.
