2022 Virtual Winter Meeting – CE

STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES

The scientific sessions of the American Psychoanalytic Association’s meetings are intended to bridge the practice gaps in the professional knowledge of attendees by exploring new and recent developments in research, theory, technique, clinical knowledge and by offering opportunities to review essential psychoanalytic knowledge.

After attending the 2022 Virtual Winter Meeting, attendees should be able to:

  1. Discuss the negative consequences of assumptions and prejudices among sub-groups to promote change and increase organizational effectiveness.
  2. Analyze how social factors intertwine with psychic ones in consideration of human development and of the emergence of psychic distress in adult and child patients.
  3. Discuss the history of mass incarceration and failures in the mental health system that contribute to the disproportionate number of people of color in prisons and their mental health care needs.
  4. Summarize the historical, socio-economic and political factors that impact engagement with diversity, difference and otherness related to the defensive “not knowing” about structural racism in health care delivery.
