Welcoming Adelphi University to APsA!
The Adelphi University Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy is now an Approved APsA Training Institute
New York, NY — December 10, 2025 — The American Psychoanalytic Association (APsA) is pleased to announce that the Adelphi University Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy has been formally approved as an APsA Approved Training Institute, following Board of Directors approval on October 12, 2025.
This designation marks an important milestone both for Adelphi and for APsA’s national training community. Approved Training Institutes play a central role in sustaining and advancing high standards in psychoanalytic education. Each approved institute maintains the educational, administrative, and professional criteria outlined in APsA’s Standards and Principles for Psychoanalytic Education, ensuring that candidates receive rigorous and comprehensive preparation for clinical psychoanalytic practice.
The Adelphi program joins APsA’s network of institutes that provide clinical training in Adult Psychoanalysis, Child Psychoanalysis, and Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis, reflecting the supervised clinical work, coursework, and experiential learning necessary for the development of competent psychoanalysts. Many APsA institutes, including Adelphi, also offer programs in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, along with opportunities for academic and research training that enrich the broader field.
The addition of Adelphi strengthens APsA’s commitment to fostering excellence in psychoanalytic training, expanding access to high-quality education, and supporting the next generation of clinicians and scholars.
